Three points against the champions help us clinch third place in Mid Sussex League
Congratulations to our Mid Sussex League team who took three points off newly crowned league champions Henfield to finish third in Division Three.
We managed to win one, draw one and lose one against the consistently strongest team in the league, earning us three points - and enabling us to leapfrog St Francis into third place.
Please note: the official table on the Mid Sussex Bowls League website is wrong at the time of writing. I have notified the secretary and hope it will be corrected shortly.
Henfield won the division by 13 points from Isle of Thorns, who defeated Crawley Town last night.
We started the day level with St Francis but behind them on shot difference.
But they picked up only two points from their defeat at Southgate Park, meaning we pipped them by one - and suddenly that draw on Anne's rink becomes crucial.
The winning rink, skipped by Neville, included Graham Aldis, Marge and Graham Barton.

Valiant effort at Burgess Hill's charity day
We just about cobbled together a couple of teams, following a spate of injuries and holiday commitments, but we put up a fine show at Burgess Hill's Malcolm Mackenzie charity day.
With many of the absentees from our Ladies' section, we had to borrow two players from the hosts. But we gave Hurstpierpoint, Southwick Park and Burgess Hill a run for their money - and gave the hosts actual money, too, for their brilliant charity, Cure Usher Syndrome.
We finished fourth (out of four) but enjoyed wins over both winners Southwick Park and runners-up Burgess Hill during the day-long competition.
Interestingly, we were the only team to score at least a point in each of the six sessions.

Top national competition comes to Beech Hurst
Haywards Heath & Beech Hurst were honoured to host a last-32 men's Top Club match between East Sussex side Sidley Martlets and North Sheen, from south London.
The match - played over five disciplines, including two forms of singles, pairs, triples and fours - had to be held on a neutral green, and the sides decided we were roughly equidistant.
It's fair to say some of the top-class players struggled to get to grips with the quirks of our green, but it's also fair to say some of them adapted brilliantly, with little complaint.
