New season, new sponsor…

The club is delighted to welcome another friend and neighbour to our array of sponsors to help us through the financial challenges of sporting life in the 21st Century.

Martlet Manor care home, situated directly opposite our Beech Hurst home, has agreed a three-year arrangement to support us financially – and hopefully, benefit us socially, as well.

Care UK, which runs the home, which opened in 2021, is keen for community involvement, hosting events such as a pie-and-a-pint club, afternoon teas and information talks, all for the general public.

And Martlet's customer relations manager, Rose Grover, hopes to create a two-way relationship with us, giving us the opportunity to visit, attend - and even stage - events and possibly host some of the home’s residents at our green.

'Nice collaboration'

She said: “I joined [Martlet Manor] six months ago and realised we didn’t have a lot of engagement with our community. I thought about what was local and within our target market where we could benefit and support each other.

“Your club seemed ideal. It’s so local and seemed to be something our residents could potentially engage in, too.

“It’s good to get people out more and be more active. It seemed a nice collaboration.”

In return, we have a guaranteed income for a fixed term, to go alongside that from our other major sponsor, P&S Gallagher, as well as support for one-off events, such as our David Johns Trophy day, which Martlet Manor has also agreed to sponsor.

Its banner will be displayed alongside Gallagher’s and those of our other sponsors at home matches.

'Valued contributions'

Club treasurer Basil Larkins said: “Like many small sports clubs, we work hard to keep costs down for our members, and the financial assistance from our sponsors is a key element in the mix.

“We treat all our sponsors as part of our 'family' and in return, they are all very generous to us in many different ways.

“Whether it’s sponsoring an event, paying for our club shirts or contributing to our running costs, all our sponsors are valued for their contributions.

“We are always on the lookout for new partners and welcome any approach from local or national businesses.”
