A few facts and figures about the finalists who will battle it out over the coming weekend.

  • There will be a new men’s singles champion – Tony Jarvis or Clive Thomas
  • There are three first-time finalists – Clive, Bob Sutton and Graham Aldis
  • Anne Bosman has won 11 titles. The total of all the other finalists added together is 16
  • One player (Neville) has reached both pairs finals – the third time such a feat has been achieved in four years. Andrew Croft won the Mixed Pairs and lost the Drawn Pairs in 2025, and Anne won both in 2023

Men’s Singles Championship (holder: Mark Gooch)

Tony Jarvis v Clive Thomas
Mark did not defend his title this year, so for the third time in four years, there will be a new winner – either Clive Thomas or Tony.

This will be Clive’s first final and Tony’s second, having won the mixed pairs with Marge Breading in 2024.

Ladies’ Singles Championship (holder: Linda Huntley)

Marge Breading v Anne Bosman
Could there be another new winner of the Ladies’ title?

While Marge is no stranger to winning on finals day (Handicap, Sam Farmer Plate and Mixed Pairs, all in 2024), she has yet to lift the Ladies’ Championship.

Anne, however, is the most decorated player currently at the club. Her haul of 11 titles includes three Ladies’ Singles trophies (2017, 2018 and 2022). And she has also been runner-up twice (2013 and 2021).

Handicap (holder: John Box)

Rowland Morris v Bill Mann
Rowland is looking for his fourth title, having won the Veterans and Drawn Pairs in 2021 and the Sam Farmer Plate in 2023.

Bill is in his third final but has yet to win one. He was runner-up in this competition in 2024 and in the Drawn Pairs in 2025.

John Martin Shield (holder: Neville Dalton)

Bob Sutton v Mark Howell

It’s Bob’s first final, but Mark is somewhat of a veteran, having won the Drawn Pairs in 2024 and 2025, when he was also runner-up in the Handicap.

Veteran two-woods (holder: John Box)

Neville Dalton v Linda Huntley

Neither Neville nor Linda has won this trophy – but they’re quite used to playing in finals – in fact, they’re pretty used to playing each other in finals.

In 2023 they met twice on the same day – in the John Martin Shield and the Handicap. Linda won both – and is the current Ladies’ Singles champion.

Like Linda, Neville has won three titles – the most recent being that twice-elusive John Martin Shield and the Sam Farmer Plate, both last year.

Sam Farmer Plate (holder: Neville Dalton)

Graham Aldis v Stephen Banks

For Graham, it’s his first final; for Stephen, his second, having been runner-up in the Drawn Pairs in 2024.

Drawn Pairs (holders: Anne Bosman and Mark Howell)

Marge Breading and Mark Gooch v Neville Dalton and Stephen Banks

No new finalists in this one. Neville has actually won the trophy – with Basil Larkins in 2022. Stephen was runner-up with Nicola Coles in 2024 – the year that Marge won her three titles and was runner-up in the Veterans.

Mark was in two finals last year – winning the Men’s Singles Championship and finishing runner-up in the John Martin Shield.

Mixed Pairs (holders: Andrew Croft and Gwen Croft)

Linda Huntley and Peter Huntley v Nicola Coles and Neville Dalton

In 2023 Linda and Neville each reached three finals. Linda beat Neville in two of them. They each finished runner-up in the other – Linda the Drawn Pairs and Neville this one - the Mixed Pairs – with Nicola.

Linda and Peter were runners-up in this competition in 2025.

Nicola is also a former Ladies’ Singles champion – a competition in which she has also been runner-up three times.
