Haywards Heath & Beech Hurst Bowls Club Home

Welcome to your new-look Haywards Heath & Beech Hurst website

New season; new look… and new faces in key places.

Take a look at what’s new.

This website is for you, the club's members - and for people interested in bowls or who would like to find out more.

We lost to Hove & Kingsway in the County Fours last year. This year we face Burgess Hill. We lost to Hove & Kingsway in the County Fours last year. This year we face Burgess Hill.

Come and support your team-mates as they represent the club

Friday is a big day of competitive matches at Beech Hurst, with Haywards Heath & Beech Hurst players representing the club in two Champion of Champions contests and a county competition.

Reigning Ladies champion Linda takes on Caren Stoffberg, of Southgate Park, at midday in the Mid Sussex Champion of Champions competition..

Then at 2pm Mark Gooch, the Men's champ, faces Popes Mead's Paul Leare in the men's version.

At 6pm we are due to host Burgess Hill A in the Sussex County Bowls Men's Senior Fours Championship, led by Tony Jarvis.

Last week, a ladies' four, comprising Nicola, Jill Hatfield, Fiona and Marge lost 9-29 in the first round of the Gladys Rowland Cup in the rain on Portslade's artificial surface.

The men's team play in the men's equivalent - the Edward Rowland Cup - on June 11, when they host Hove & Kingsway (who knocked us out of the County Fours last year), also at Beech Hurst.

Club members are welcome to show their support by attending any of these games - and future ones.

Details of all external team competition fixtures and results can be found on our Fixtures and Results sub-menu - External Competitions.

Rain stays away (for once) for open-day success

The first of our open days on Sunday attracted around 20 people, despite a dismal weather forecast.

With a bit more luck, our second one - on Saturday, June 6 - might attract even more.

It's open to those who want to find out more about the game, have a go and maybe see whether they'd like to join our club.

Open days are how many of us started. You would be most welcome to join us.

  • 10.30am-3pm
  • Free refreshments
  • Equipment provided - just wear flat shoes, please
