Monday, 26 September 2022
'The final of the Nicholas Soames Trophy was due to be held on September 10th but was postponed due to the death of our late Queen. The rearranged fixture was held at Haywards Heath and Beech Hurst Bowls Club on Saturday September 24th September. The weather was kind and the match was played under blue skies.
The winners were Saltdean who overcame a strong challenge from Henfield to win the Trophy for the first time.
Mid Sussex M.P. Mims Davies was there at the start of proceedings to supervise the toss and Katy Bourne (Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner) came to present the Trophy to the winners.
All entry fees totalling £270, were donated to 'St Peter and St James Hospice'.
Captain Graham Brown worked tirelessly to set up the Green and tidy up afterwards. Elaine Larkins and jennie Evans provided tea and coffe and Mick Coomber ran the bar.
